                    NOTIFICATION OF MAJOR INTERESTS IN SHARES


The following disclosures of material interests in shares under sections 198 -
220 of the Companies Act 1985 were made to Anite Group plc ('the Company') on 26
October 2006:

BriTel Fund Trustees Limited (see note 1) disclosed an interest, as at 26
October 2006, in 21,258,821 ordinary shares representing 6.051% of the Company's
current issued share capital (351,363,519 ordinary shares of 10p each), held as
follows:

(see note 1)  The Trustees of the BT Pension Scheme control Britel Fund Trustees
              Limited, which is the owner of Hermes Pensions Management Limited,
              Hermes Focus Asset Management Limited, Hermes Investment Management
              Limited, Hermes Assured Limited and Hermes SLP Limited are all
              subsidiaries of Hermes Pensions Management Limited.

(see note 2)  These shares are held on behalf of the Trustees of the BT Pension
              Scheme in funds managed by various investment managers on its behalf.

(see note 3)  These shares are held directly by Hermes Assured Limited, a subsidiary
              of Hermes Pensions Management Limited.

(see note 4)  These shares are held through an interest in a UK Limited Partnership,
              in which Hermes Focus Asset Management Limited is a General Partner
              and Hermes SLP Limited is a Limited Partner. Hermes Investment
              Management Limited is a General Partner in SU. Britel Fund Trustees
              Limited is a Limited Partner in SU, through which some of the assets
              of the BT Pension Scheme are invested.
