Board Appointment
ASOS plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Hilary Riva and Rita Clifton as Non-Executive Directors of the Company with effect from 1 April 2014.
Hilary Riva (aged 56) is a non-executive director of both Shaftesbury, the FTSE 250 property company, as well as London & Partners, the official promotional organisation for London, having been appointed to each post in 2010 and 2011 respectively. Between 1996 and 2001, Hilary was a member of the Management Board of Arcadia serving as Managing Director of Evans, Top Shop, Principles, Wallis, Dorothy Perkins, and Warehouse. In 2001, as Managing Director of Rubicon Retail, she jointly led the management buy-out of Principles, Hawkshead, Warehouse and Racing Green from Arcadia. Following the sale of Rubicon in 2005, Hilary joined the British Fashion Council as Chief Executive on a pro bono basis and took over the organisation of London Fashion Week. She was awarded an OBE for services to the fashion industry in 2008.
Rita Clifton (aged 56) is currently chairman of BrandCap, the strategic brand consultancy, and Populus, the research and opinion pollster, and is a non-executive director on the Boards of Bupa and Nationwide. Previous non-executive directorships have included Dixons Retail plc and Emap plc, publisher of Grazia and Heat magazines. She graduated from Cambridge and started her career in advertising, becoming Vice Chairman and Strategy Director at Saatchi & Saatchi. She joined Interbrand, the global brand consultancy, as London Chief Executive Officer in 1997, becoming Chairman in 2002. She has been a Trustee (now Fellow) of WWF and a member of the Government's Sustainable Development Commission. She now also chairs TCV, the leading practical sustainability organisation. In the New Year's Honours list 2014, Rita was made a CBE for services to the advertising industry.
