AssetCo PLC
20 August 2007
For Immediate Release 20th August 2007
AssetCo plc
HER MAJESTY'S CHIEF INSPECTOR IN SCOTLAND, JEFF ORD, CBE TO JOIN ASSETCO
AssetCo plc ('AssetCo') is pleased to announce the establishment of its new
Emergency Resource division and the appointment of Jeff Ord, CBE, as its
Managing Director. This new division will further extend AssetCo's existing
position as the leading provider of managed service solutions to the Fire and
Rescue Service ('FRS') by providing recruitment, training, and human resource
solutions to the Emergency Services.
Mr Ord is currently Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Fire and Rescue Services in
Scotland with responsibility for performance, inspections and the reform of
Scotland's FRS, as well as being an advisor to the UK Government on FRS related
issues.
A member of the FRS for 40 years, Mr Ord has held senior positions in a number
of FRSs throughout the UK including 17 years as a Chief Fire Officer. During his
career he has also held several other senior posts, including as Leadership and
Management Tutor at the Fire Service College, Chairman of the Commonwealth and
Overseas Fire Association, and President of the UK Chief Fire Officers
Association. Most significantly, he was previously a Director of the UK
Government Task Force on Diversity and Equality.
Mr Ord's expertise in organisational restructuring in the Emergency Services has
been universally recognised and he has been engaged to provide advice in this
area by the Governments of South Africa, Poland and the Ukraine. In June 2006,
he was appointed by the Scottish Executive to lead a review of the effectiveness
of all three Scottish Emergency Services' plans to deal with simultaneous major
emergencies, including terrorist attack.
John Shannon, Chief Executive Officer of AssetCo, commented, 'This is a very
significant announcement for us. The Fire and Rescue Service and other Emergency
Services are under immense pressure these days to serve an ever increasing and
demanding spread of responsibilities. Managing, motivating and retaining skilled
staff is by far their greatest area of investment and the challenges for those
seeking to recruit, re-skill and retain the best and brightest to meet these
responsibilities have never been greater. Jeff has great strategic ability and
an impeccable track record in change and resource management in this highly
complex sector. We have no doubt he will lead our new division to the forefront
of the market.'
Mr Ord commented, 'I am delighted with my forthcoming appointment. In recent
years the name AssetCo has become synonymous with the principles of
collaboration and partnership within the FRS. The team has already demonstrated
outstanding innovation providing specialist vehicle and equipment managed
services solutions. The development into identifying and delivering human
resource solutions is a natural step which serves to consolidate the Company's
position as private sector thought leaders to the FRS.'
