Associated British Foods PLC 26 February 2003 26 February 2003 Associated British Foods announces new Chief Executive of George Weston Foods Associated British Foods plc ('ABF'), the international food, ingredients and retail group, today announced that George Weston has been appointed Chief Executive of George Weston Foods, ABF's food operations in Australia and New Zealand, with effect from 31 March. George Weston is currently Chief Executive of Allied Bakeries, ABF's milling and baking business in the UK, and is also Deputy Chairman of Associated British Foods plc. For the financial year 2002 the business achieved sales of £580 million and operating profit of £12 million. In September 2002 ABF acquired the minority shareholdings in George Weston Foods and it became a wholly-owned subsidiary. George Weston Foods was delisted from the Australian Stock Exchange on 27 September 2002. George Weston biography: 2000 - Appointed Deputy Chairman of Associated British Foods plc and has been a member of the board since April 1999. George is currently Chief Executive of Allied Bakeries and is a director of Wittington Investments Limited. 1992 to 1998 - He was Managing Director of Westmill Foods, after which he worked for the group Finance Director until taking up his position at Allied Bakeries. 1988 - He joined the group in Australia and ran George Weston Foods milling operations in Victoria from 1989 to 1990. He is a PPE graduate from Oxford University, and has an MBA from Harvard Business School.
