Appointment of Non-Executive Directors
Associated British Foods plc has today appointed, as non-executive directors,
Lord Jay of Ewelme GCMG and Javier Ferran.
Lord Jay's career has been in public service, culminating in his role as
Permanent Under Secretary at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office from 2002 to
2006. He was the Prime Minister's Personal Representative for the G8 Summits at
Gleneagles and St Petersburg in 2005 and 2006, and British Ambassador to France
from 1996 to 2001. Michael Jay's earlier career included time at the World Bank
in Washington and the British High Commission in New Delhi.
Javier Ferran is a partner in Lion Capital LLP, a London-based private equity
firm. He is also a non-executive director of Abbot plc. Mr Ferran spent his
earlier career with Bacardi Limited, latterly as President and Chief Executive
Officer.
The Board looks forward to the valuable contributions that both Lord Jay and Mr
Ferran will make to the Company.
