Chairmanship of Associated British Foods
Harry Bailey, Deputy Chairman and Acting Chairman since
September 1999, has been appointed Non Executive Chairman of
Associated British Foods, the leading international food,
ingredients and retail group with immediate effect.
Garry Weston is retiring as Chairman because of his continuing
poor health.
George Weston, who will continue as Chief Executive of Allied
Bakeries, is appointed Deputy Chairman also with immediate
effect.
As previously indicated, Trevor Shaw will be retiring as a
Director of ABF with immediate effect. Mr Shaw has served with
the ABF group for 31 years as its legal adviser and was
appointed to the main ABF Board in 1979.
