Associated British Foods PLC 08 April 2003 For immediate release 8 April 2003 Associated British Foods plc - Comparative Segmental Analysis Associated British Foods announces, today, amendments to the Group's segmental analysis, as detailed below. These changes are designed to enhance the understanding of the company following recent acquisitions and disposals. The results for the 24 weeks ended 1 March 2003 will be announced on 16 April 2003. In advance of this announcement, set out below is the analysis for the 24 weeks ended 2 March 2002 and the year ended 14 September 2002 on the new segmental basis for comparative purposes. The changes are as follows: • the retained UK flour mills are integrated with Allied Bakeries and included in grocery • with the acquisition of Mazola in the US, ACH is now included in grocery • following the disposal of Allied Glass Containers, the renamed retail segment represents Primark • the businesses in Australia and New Zealand are now analysed across the grocery and ingredients segments although the results for this region are still identified in the analysis by geography • the renamed ingredients segment now comprises SPI, Abitec and the Australian ingredients businesses The group now analyses its results across four business segments: grocery, primary food & agriculture, ingredients and retail. The figures have been adjusted for the disposals made by the group in the first half of the 2003 financial year: Allied Glass Containers, British third party flour milling and the rice specialities business at Brinkley in the US. For the sake of clarity, there is no change to the totals for turnover, operating profit or capital employed previously reported.
