Amlin plc announces that, in the first of the 1999 Lloyd's auctions, it has
acquired £30.5 million of capacity on its managed syndicates at an average
price of 6.1p per £ of capacity.  With these purchases Amlin will own
approximately 44% of the capacity on its managed syndicates for the 2000 year
of account.  Therewill be 6 more auctions during 1999 which will provide
Amlin with further opportunities to increase its ownership of capacity on its
managed syndicates.
