ASHBY APPOINTMENT PAVES WAY FOR BLOODSTOCK EXPANSION
Amlin plc, the largest independent Lloyd's insurance group, today announced
leading bloodstock underwriter, David Ashby, is to join the business in a move
that paves the way for a significant expansion of its bloodstock account.
David Ashby was most recently at QBE International Insurance where he was lead
Bloodstock Underwriter for over eight years.
Amlin currently underwrites £9m of bloodstock business a year. It is an
international account that has grown substantially over the last two years.
David's appointment will give further impetus to this growth. The account is at
present headed by Andrew Wright who also underwrites the Energy account. This
appointment allows Andrew to devote one hundred per cent of his time to Energy
business, which has grown significantly in recent times as more capacity has
been allocated to this class following a major repricing.
Simon Beale, who heads the Coles Division of Amlin, commented: 'David's
appointment as bloodstock underwriter is a crucial piece in the jigsaw that will
allow us to continue to profitably build the bloodstock account as well as
dedicate Andrew's time on the energy account.'
Charles Philipps, Chief Executive said: 'We are delighted to have attracted
someone of David's calibre to lead our expansion in bloodstock. His
relationships and bloodstock expertise should result in profitable growth of
this account. It will also allow Andrew to further develop the opportunities in
the energy sector.'
