Kim Hvirgel appointed Chief Executive of Amlin Corporate Insurance NV
Amlin plc, the leading specialist insurer, has appointed Kim Hvirgel as the new Chief Executive of its wholly owned Netherlands-based subsidiary, ACI. The appointment is subject to the approval of the Dutch National Bank and Mr Hvirgel is expected to commence at ACI on 1 June 2011. Mr Patrick Coene, the current Chief Executive of ACI, will step down from that role on the same day.
Mr Hvirgel, a Danish national aged 51, was previously the CEO of Codan Forsikring Ltd, Royal & Sun Alliance's Danish subsidiary, where he had worked since 2001. Codan had premium income of approximately DKK8 billion (£941 million) and approximately 1,500 employees. His previous roles at Codan included Head of Commercial Underwriting for Denmark and the Nordic Divisional Director for commercial lines. From 1993 - 2001, he worked for Tryg for eight years, latterly as Assistant General Manager and prior to that, for the Danish Insurance Association.
