Finance Director Appointed - Richard Hextall

                          FINANCE DIRECTOR APPOINTED

The Board of Amlin plc has appointed Mr Richard Hextall as Finance Director
with effect from a date still to be finalised.  Mr Hextall is joining Amlin
from Deloitte & Touche where he is a Director specialising in the insurance
and financial services sector.

Mr Hextall has been with Deloitte & Touche for 10 years.  Over this period he
has worked on a wide variety of insurance assignments and his audit experience
has included London market insurance companies and Lloyd's syndicates,
including Syndicate 2001 which is managed by the Amlin Group.
