NOTIFICATION OF MAJOR INTEREST IN SHARES

On 27 April 2001 Amlin plc ('Amlin') received notification that Granville Baird
Capital Partners is no longer entitled to exercise control over the voting
rights conferred by 8,897,470 Amlin ordinary shares, representing 4.3% of
Amlin's issued ordinary shares, but that Rostrum Group Limited is now so
entitled and accordingly has an interest in such shares under Part VI of the
Companies Act 1985.  The relevant shares are registered in the name of
KB(CI)Nominees Limited.
