Notifications of shareholdings in company



Amlin has received the following notifications of reduced percentage interests
in its ordinary shares of 25p each ('Shares'), all of which have resulted from
the completion on 5 July 2002 of its Firm Placing and Placing and Open Offer of
Shares ('Share Issue'). The number of Shares now in issue following the Share
Issue is 372,170,721.



One Beacon Insurance Company



One Beacon Insurance Company's beneficial interest in 14,980,861 Shares now
represents 4.03% of Amlin's Shares in issue (previously 5.59%).



Rostrum partnerships



The partners in the Rostrum Investors limited partnerships now have notifiable
interests by virtue of Part VI of the Companies Act 1985 in a total of
18,644,592 Shares, representing 5.01% of Amlin's Shares in issue. The previous
such notification was of 17,288,186 Shares, which represented 6.45% of Amlin's
Shares in issue prior to the Share Issue.



Disclosures have been received in respect of these Shares from the following
limited partners:  Rostrum Limited, BriTel Fund Trustees Limited ('Britel'),
Possfund Custodian Trustee Limited ('Possfund'), British Airways Pension
Trustees Limited ('British Airways Pensions'), Stargas Nominees Limited ('
Stargas') (nominee for Lattice Group Pension Scheme) and Kleinwort Benson
(Jersey) Trustees Limited (the latter as a limited partner and as trustee of the
Rostrum Group Trust).  Mr Michael Wade has also disclosed an interest in the
same 18,644,592 Shares by reason of his effective shareholding in Rostrum
Limited.



By virtue of Sections 204 and 205 of the Companies Act 1985, Britel, Possfund,
British Airways Pensions and Stargas are interested in 13,628,732 (3.66% of
Amlin's Shares in issue), 15,184,068 (4.08%), 16,926,735 (4.55%) and 10,194,241
(2.74%) Shares respectively, all such interests being over parts of the
18,644,592 Shares referred to above.



The Shares referred to in the notifications from the Rostrum Investors partners
are held as follows:

            KB (CI) Nominees Ltd              10,297,470

            Stargas Nominees Ltd                 5,899,434

            Possfund Nominees Ltd                  978,286

            BriTel Fund Nominees Ltd           1,469,402



Finally, Rostrum Group Limited has confirmed that it still has an interest in
10,297,470 Shares, which are the Shares referred to above as being held by KB
(CI) Nominees Ltd.  This interest is by virtue of Rostrum Group Limited being
entitled to exercise control over the voting rights conferred by such Shares.
These Shares now represent less than 3% of Amlin's Shares in issue.



Prudential plc



The notifiable interest of Prudential plc and its subsidiary, The Prudential
Assurance Company Limited, is now over 11,184,745 Shares, which represents 3.01%
of Amlin's Shares in issue.  Their previous notified interest was over
12,864,794 Shares, which represented 4.80% of the Shares then in issue.



Confirmation of shareholding of State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company
('State Farm')



Amlin also confirms that State Farm, following its participation as previously
announced in the Share Issue, is now beneficially interested in 49,445,955
Shares, representing an unchanged 13.29% of Amlin's Shares in issue.
