                             Acquisition of Shares


On 8th March 2000, Amlin plc acquired from Hoare Govett's affiliate, ABN AMRO
Equities (UK) Limited, 4,327,554 Amlin ordinary shares at 65p per share.  This
represents 2.1 per cent. of Amlin's issued ordinary share capital.

The shares will be cancelled as soon as practicable, whereafter 205,558,841
shares will remain in issue.
