AMLIN RESTRUCTURES AND CONTINUES EFFICIENCY DRIVE
Amlin plc, the specialist insurer, today announces that its two Lloyd's
managing agencies, Amlin Underwriting Limited and Angerstein Underwriting
Limited, have been merged. This continues the streamlining of the Group in
order to achieve greater efficiency and operational flexibility for the
future. The combined managing agency, called Amlin Underwriting Limited,
manages £538 million of insurance capacity.
The completion of the agency merger coincides with action being taken to
reduce costs in administrative areas supporting the Group's underwriting.
This involves a reduction in head count of some 50 people from a combination
of redundancy and the decision to outsource information technology services,
for which discussions are at an advanced stage with a third party provider.
Amlin Chief Executive, Charles Philipps, said; 'We are in a period of
significant change, both in the insurance industry and in Amlin. It is
imperative that, as a Group, we drive for efficiency so that we can compete
effectively for business and deliver good returns to shareholders.'
