AstraZeneca PLC announces the appointment, with effect from 24 September 2001,
of Jane E. Henney, M.D. as a non-executive Director.
Dr. Henney has considerable expertise and experience in US Healthcare matters.
Currently, she is a Senior Scholar at the Association of Academic Health
Centers. Prior to this appointment she was the Commissioner of Food and
Drugs, U.S. Food and Drug Administration from 1998 - 2001. She was also
Deputy Commissioner for Operations at the FDA from 1992-1994. She is a
medical oncologist and has held several posts at the National Cancer Institute
including Deputy Director from 1980-1995. Her past academic positions include
Vice President for Health Sciences at the University of New Mexico and Vice
President for Health Programs and Policy and Interim Dean of the School of
Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
