          AstraZeneca PLC: Hakan Mogren to become Non-Executive Director


AstraZeneca PLC announced today that Dr Hakan Mogren, currently Executive Deputy
Chairman, will cease to be an Executive Director of the Company on 31 August
2003.  With effect from that date, he will become Non-Executive Deputy Chairman.


Dr Mogren, 58, was the Chief Executive Officer of Astra AB between 1988 and
1999.  On the merger with Zeneca Group PLC in April 1999, Dr Mogren became
Executive Deputy Chairman of the merged group.
