Directorate Change


Joe Jimenez has resigned from the Board of AstraZeneca PLC as a Non-Executive
Director with immediate effect as he has today agreed to take up a full-time
executive appointment with Novartis, the Swiss-based healthcare group. The Board
wishes him well in his new role and would like to thank him for the significant
contribution that he has made to the Company since joining the Board in July
2003.


The resolution to re-elect Joe Jimenez contained in the Notice of Annual General
Meeting (AGM) which was recently sent to shareholders will be withdrawn, and
accordingly this resolution will not be put to shareholders at the AGM on 26
April 2007.
