                 REPURCHASE OF SHARES IN ASTRAZENECA PLC

Further to the announcement of its irrevocable, non-discretionary share
repurchase programme for the month of November, AstraZeneca PLC announced that
under the terms of that programme it purchased for cancellation 357,274 ordinary
shares of AstraZeneca PLC at a price of 3181 pence per share on 8 November 2006.
Upon the cancellation of these shares, the number of shares in issue will be
1,541,936,845.
