Update on approach

               AUKETT GROUP PLC ('Aukett Group' or the 'Company')

In a circular to shareholders of Aukett Group dated 8 March 2005, it was
reported that the Company had received an approach (which could lead to an
offer) from SMC Group plc. Since that date, limited discussions have taken place
and it has been established that SMC Group plc is no longer planning or seeking
any form of approach (which could lead to an offer) to the Company. Accordingly,
all talks with SMC Group plc have been terminated.
