Equities Index Unsecured Loan Stock 2013 - Interest Payment

It is announced that the rate of interest (gross of income tax) on the Equities
Index Unsecured Loan Stock 2013 of British Empire Securities and General Trust
plc for the quarter ended 29 December 2006 is 1.64600 pence per unit, equivalent
to £16.46 per 1,000 units of stock.  The record date was 29 December 2006 and
payment of the interest will be made on 10 January 2007.
