AVIVA APPOINTS NEW NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Aviva plc ('Aviva') has appointed Ms Euleen Yiu Kiang Goh as a new independent non-executive director of Aviva plc with effect from 1 January 2009.

Ms Goh was most recently Chief Executive of Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore between 2001 and 2006, as the culmination of a 21 year career with them. Before that, she was Financial Controller with Pontiac Land which she joined from PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1982. She is a Chartered Accountant.  

She currently sits as a non-executive director on the boards of Singapore Airlines Limited (where she chairs the Audit Committee), the Singapore Exchange Limited, MediaCorp Private Limited, Capital and Financial Limited as well as Standard Chartered Thai Plc and Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad.

Lord Sharman of Redlynch, Aviva's chairman, said: 'I'm delighted that Euleen is joining us. She has a wealth of experience both at executive and non-executive level and she will also bring fresh insight into important areas of business activity for Aviva in South East Asia. I am confident she will be a great asset to the Aviva board.'
