AVIVA CONFIRMS BOARD CHANGES
Further to the announcement made on 10 August 2005, Aviva plc ('Aviva') confirms
that Pehr Gyllenhammar will retire as chairman and director of Aviva with effect
from 31 December 2005. Mr Gyllenhammar will be succeeded as chairman by Lord
Sharman of Redlynch, OBE, with effect from 1 January 2006. Lord Sharman joined
the board in January 2005.
Aviva also confirms that George Paul and Elizabeth Vallance, independent
non-executive directors, will retire from the Aviva board with effect from 31
December 2005. As stated in the Company's 2004 annual report and accounts, both
Mr Paul and Lady Vallance have served in excess of nine years with the company,
or one of the legacy companies, and are retiring in line with the board's
rotation and succession plans for its non-executive directors. As part of this
succession planning Mary Francis joined the board with effect from 1 October
2005.
