Letter to  RNS

On 12 May 2003, 99 ordinary shares of £1 each in the Company were transferred by
Avon Rubber Quest Limited, as Trustee of the Avon Rubber Qualifying Employee
Share Ownership Trust to satisfy options exercised by an employee under the
Company's Sharesave Option Scheme 2002.  As a result of the transfer, the 
Executive Directors below, who are beneficiaries of the Trust, technically 
ceased to have an interest in 99 ordinary shares of £1 each in the Company.
