              STELLA PIRIE OBE APPOINTED AS NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Avon Rubber p.l.c. is pleased to announce the appointment to the Board of Stella
Pirie OBE as Non-Executive Director.

Ms Pirie, aged 54, holds a degree in Economics from the University of Manchester
and started her career as an auditor at KPMG before becoming Divisional Finance
Director at Rotork Plc. In 1989 Stella and her husband set up their own
business, an exporting SME, to design and manufacture high pressure valves and
hydraulic equipment. The company was sold to a management team in 2002.

Stella also serves as a Non-Executive Director of GWR Group Plc, Schroder UK
Growth Fund Plc, Stroud & Swindon Building Society and as Chairman of GWR (West)
Ltd, Bath Spa University College and the UK TI International Trade Development
Advisory Group.

Other than the above, there is no information which requires disclosure under
paragraphs 6.F.2(b) to 6.F.2(g) and paragraphs 16.4 and 16.5 of the Listing
Rules of the UK Listing Authority.

Commenting on the appointment, Chairman Trevor Bonner, said:
