                              MANAGEMENT SUCCESSION

Avon is pleased to announce its plans for management succession within the
Group. In light of Steve Willcox's decision to retire from the Group, the Board
has decided to appoint Terry Stead as Chief Executive and Peter Slabbert as
Finance Director. Steve will retire from the Company on 30 September 2005.

Terry has been Finance Director since 1998 and has been closely involved in the
development of the Group and its strategic direction since that time. Whilst
Steve will work with Terry in the period to 30 September 2005 and will remain on
the Board during that time, Terry will become Chief Executive with effect from 1
July 2005.

Peter Slabbert is both a Chartered Accountant and an A.C.M.A. and has been
Financial Controller of the Group since May 2000. Peter is appointed Finance
Director with effect from 1 July 2005.

Trevor Bonner, Chairman of the Board of Avon Rubber p.l.c. said, 'Steve Willcox
had indicated some time ago his wish to retire once an appropriate successor was
appointed. Having considered external and internal candidates, the Board is
delighted that Terry has accepted our proposal that he become Chief Executive.
We are sure that he will carry the Group forward with great success. We offer
our best wishes to Steve on his retirement and thank him for many years of
service and leadership at Avon. Peter's appointment as Finance Director is also
a product of our succession planning process and we look forward to his
contribution to a wider range of Group activities.
