Avon   Rubber  p.l.c.  announces,  with  regret,  that   Mr.
Christopher P. King, CBE, has today resigned as Chairman  of
the  Board  and  as  a  Non Executive Director,  for  health
reasons.

Mr.  T.C.  Bonner, CBE, has been appointed Chairman  of  the
Board  with  immediate effect.  Mr. Bonner was appointed  to
the  Board as a Non Executive Director in September 1994 and
was  appointed  Deputy  Chairman in March  1998  and  Senior
Independent Director in July 1998.

Mr. Bonner's roles as Deputy Chairman and Senior Independent
Director will be assumed with immediate effect by Mr. G.T.E.
Priestley  who was appointed to the Board as a Non Executive
Director in February 1998.

A  third  Non  Executive Director will be appointed  to  the
Board in due course.
