Avon Rubber p.l.c. is pleased to announce that Mr. Neil
Carson has been appointed to the Board as a Non-Executive
Director with effect from 15 May 2001.

Mr. Carson is a Director of Johnson Matthey Plc and Managing
Director  of  the  Catalysts and Chemicals  Division,  which
contains  their  Autocatalyst and Fuel Cell businesses.   He
therefore  has  significant  involvement  with  the   global
automotive industry, which is where Avon Rubber has its main
markets.  Mr. Carson is 44 and has been with Johnson Matthey
since 1980.

There  is  no  information to disclose in  relation  to  Mr.
Carson  in  respect  of paragraph 6.F.2(b)  to  (g)  of  the
Listing Rules.
