Name Change & Board Changes

Intermodal Resource Plc 02 January 2007 2 January 2007 Intermodal Resource plc Change of Name to Axis Intermodal plc and Board Appointments Intermodal Resource plc, the UK based European transport equipment contract hire group, held an extraordinary general meeting on 29 December at which the Board voted in favour of a change of the Company's name. In addition, the Company today announces a number of changes in the composition of the Board. Following the extraordinary general meeting, the Company's name will change to Axis Intermodal plc ('Axis') with effect from 4 January 2007. The Company will trade under its new name with effect from 5 January 2007. The ticker will be AXI. Following Chris Rogers' decision to retire as chairman on 31 December 2006, Axis will operate with an executive chairman and two managing directors. Robert Montague, formerly chief executive, is appointed executive chairman. Ernie Clemson, currently a Board director, is appointed managing director of Axis's UK operations and Heiner Mangels is appointed to the Group Board as managing director of Axis's German operations. George Canvin remains as a non-executive director. Axis is in advanced discussions expected to lead to the appointment of a second non-executive director in the near future. Heiner Mangels, aged 48, has been with the Axis Intermodal Group since June 2006, prior to which he held several senior level appointments in German industry and commerce with many years of experience in strategic management in the production and logistics sectors, including 4 years with Schmitz Cargobull, one of the leading European trailer manufacturers. Following the integration of Axis's operating businesses and its drive to extract the resulting cost efficiencies, Axis will now be organised into two operating companies, one in the UK and one in Germany. This has also already led to a significant improvement in cross-border commercial co-operation within the Group, facilitating a significant increase in the cross-selling of services to Axis clients operating pan-European businesses. Given the recent integration and feedback from regular surveys of client opinion, the Board has decided that a single European brand for the Group will raise Axis's profile and strengthen its marketing to its core target client group. In continental Europe, Axis has successfully developed a strong brand identity, which matches the Group's reputation for bespoke products and high quality of client service and aftercare. As a result, as of 1 January 2007, the Group has had two operating companies: all the existing UK companies have been consolidated into Axis Intermodal UK Ltd, while Axis Intermodal Germany GMBH continues as the Group's sole operating company in Germany and remains wholly owned by Axis Intermodal Group plc. Commenting on the recent changes, Robert Montague, Executive Chairman of Axis Intermodal plc, said: 'We would like to thank Chris Rogers for his valuable contribution to the development of Axis Intermodal over the past several years. It is a tribute to the quality and depth of the Group's management that we can now promote internally to strengthen the Axis Board as we enter the Group's next phase of development. The adoption of the 'Axis' name across the Group matches the integration of our businesses and ambition to be a European leader in terms of quality and service in our industry.' Notes to editors: Axis Intermodal is an equipment contract hire group that services the transport and logistics industries in the UK and across Europe. From several locations in the UK, Axis offers contract hire of trucks and trailers, with a fleet of over 500 vehicles, together with online trailer maintenance services. The UK business contributes approximately 75% of Group revenues. Axis also has a German business based in Cologne, Germany, which provides contract hire and maintenance services to the continental European swap-body market (growing at about 7% p.a.) where it currently services approximately 10% of the rental market of about 7 million units. Axis contributes approximately 25% of group revenues. Axis has over 100 customers in Germany, including DHL, DFDS, Gefco and the German, French and Swill postal services. Axis Intermodal plc was admitted to the AIM market in 2004. Axis is the first company to enter into a funding and management agreement in respect of swapbodies with a German KG. This funding structure is designed to offer tax-efficient investment under German law for retail investors to invest in a variety of assets. KG's have invested in containers for a number of years but Axis's agreement is the first of its kind involving swapbodies. Swapbodies are containers equipped with legs which can be lowered and retracted. They can be loaded or unloaded by a truck or trailer using a built in hydraulic system and do not require an external crane. Swapbodies are particularly advantageous where fast turnaround times are required and bespoke loads are being delivered to multiple locations.
