Axis secures new contract with leading European parcel carrier
Axis, the German subsidiary of the swapbody and trailer contract hire group
Intermodal Resource plc, announces that it has secured a £0.4m contract to
supply DPD Swiss with 62 new swapbodies over a 5-year period.
Axis has worked with DPD Germany for nearly eight years and currently supplies
30 swapbodies to this franchise. Founded in 1976 as an alternative to the global
integrators and traditional postal services, DPD is one of Europe's leading
parcel services with more than 470 DPD depots in over 30 countries. DPD's major
shareholder is GeoPost who regroups the main French and European parcels
trademarks of the La Poste group.
The RETA GmbH manufactured containers are due to be delivered in July 2006, and
Axis has been appointed to oversee maintenance for the life of the contract. All
units will be insured against everyday damage.
Chief Executive, Robert Montague commented:
'We are pleased that our relationship with DPD in Germany has extended to
Switzerland.
'DPD is a key player in the courier, express, and postal industry and holds
numerous partnerships with other major operators resulting in this 5-year deal
not only providing further visibility in our business but further strengthening
our position in the swapbody market.'
