Axis secures important new contracts
Axis Intermodal, the European truck, trailer and swapbody equipment contract
hire group, is pleased to announce that it has signed new contracts for the
provision of over 250 road trailers to companies including Bulmers Logistics Ltd
and Freightliner Group Ltd, with an aggregate capital cost of £3.5 million.
Bulmers Logistics Ltd, specialists in container haulage and freight
distribution, require 140 trailers over a 5 year period with a value of £2.5
million. Freightliner Ltd, a logistic company specialising in rail has ordered
21 purpose built trailers over a 7 year period as part of an investment of
Freightliner Road Services. In addition, Axis has entered into an agreement with
a leading express deliveries courier service to provide 50 specialised trailers.
To meet the current demand for equipment following the continuing improvement of
the German economy and new contracts achieved, Axis Germany has in place an
order with various manufacturers for 1,500 swapbodies to be delivered during
2007. As a result of these new contract awards and the increasing demand for our
product, Axis UK has ordered an additional 80 tractor units from DAF and 400
Dennison Trailer Ltd container carrying road trailer chassis as part the fleet
growth for delivery during 2007.
Robert Montague, Executive Chairman commented:
'We have built a strong financial platform from which we can now grow the Axis
brand throughout Europe. All these obligations are being funded with our German
KG finance partners. I am greatly encouraged that with the new contracts signed
in the first quarter of the year and our increasing pipeline of prospects we are
well positioned to meet our ambitious, organic growth targets for 2007 and
beyond.'
