The contract, valued in total at in excess of £40million, covers the provision of C130 Hercules aircraft maintenance and infrastructure services to the RAF station until 31 March 2005 with options taking the contract to 2007. The HCS division of Babcock secured the contract following a keen competition. Babcock HCS which currently provides similar service to RAF Lynham was acquired by Babcock from Hunting PLC earlier this year. Gordon Campbell, chairman of Babcock, stated:- ' I am delighted that the Ministry of Defence has again shown its confidence in Babcock. This success is a testimony to the skills of our people and the services they provide.
