                       CHAIRMAN OF REMUNERATION COMMITTEE


Babcock announces that, with effect from today, Dipesh Shah, an independent
non-executive director, will assume the role of Chairman of the Remuneration
Committee of the Board.  As previously noted in its recently published Annual
Report & Accounts, the Company will be looking to appoint a new independent
non-executive director to the board in the coming months; membership of board
committees will be reviewed again following that appointment.
