Babcock International Group PLC received notification today that as at 10
October 2000, Barclays PLC through its subsidiary Barclays Bank PLC, has an
interest in 6,210,578 Ordinary Shares of 50p each in the Company. This
interest represents 3.66% of the issued Ordinary Share capital of the Company.
