Changes to the Board of Directors & Management

British Aerospace PLC 11 February 2000 Following his selection as Chief Executive of the new Office of Government Commerce, Peter Gershon will retire from the Board of British Aerospace plc (BAE SYSTEMS) on 31 March 2000. Steve Mogford has been appointed as one of two Chief Operating Officers of the Company and will take up his appointment and join the Board with effect from 1 April 2000. Steve will be responsible for the management of the Programmes Organisation and the world-wide Customer Support activity. In fulfilling this role Steve takes leadership of an organisation at the heart of the Company's prime contracting and systems integration activity, and its focus on identifying and exploiting opportunities in markets adjacent to its existing business. Steve, 43, was most recently Group Managing Director Programmes and Eurofighter within BAE SYSTEMS. He was previously Managing Director of the Military Aircraft and Aerostructures business, and has extensive experience within the Company. Sir Richard Evans, Chairman, commented: 'I am delighted to be able to welcome Steve Mogford to one of the key top management jobs in the Company. 'At the same time Peter Gershon's appointment to this key new Government body is fitting recognition of his outstanding capabilities as a manager. Whilst we are naturally sorry to lose him from the BAE SYSTEMS team we recognise the importance the Government is attaching to this move and wish him every success.' Peter Gershon said: ' It is with some regret that I am leaving BAE SYSTEMS after over five years with GEC Marconi Electronic Systems. I believe that excellent progress has been made with the integration following the merger. I am convinced that the former MES employees now have a bright future and I have every confidence that John Weston and the BAE SYSTEMS team will deliver the full potential of the new Company.'
