APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTOR - MICHAEL HARTNALL

BAE SYSTEMS plc announces the appointment of Michael Hartnall to the Board of
Directors with effect from today; he will serve in a non-executive capacity and
will serve as Chairman to the company's Audit Committee. Mr Hartnall was until
recently Finance Director of Rexam plc. He is also a non-executive director of
Elementis Plc and Lonmin Plc.

Michael Hartnall has no details to disclose under paragraph 6.F.2(b) to (g) of
The Listing Rules.
