BAE SYSTEMS - Appointment of Senior Independent Director

As agreed by the BAE Systems Board in 2011, having served as a director since 2003, Sir Peter Mason's term of appointment as Senior Independent Director will end on 21 January 2013. Sir Peter will retire at the Company's Annual General Meeting to be held on 8 May 2013. The Board has appointed Nick Rose to succeed Sir Peter as Senior Independent Director. Mr Rose will join the Board's Nominations Committee with immediate effect.
Nick Rose was, until October 2010, Chief Financial Officer of Diageo plc. He joined the BAE Systems Board in 2010 and has chaired the Audit Committee since August 2011. Nick is also a non-executive director of BT Group plc and is chairman of Williams Grand prix Holdings plc and Edwards Group Ltd.
