BAE Systems announces that Linda P. Hudson has decided to retire as President and CEO of BAE Systems, Inc. and as an executive director of BAE Systems plc. In order to achieve a seamless transition while a search is conducted for her successor, she has agreed to remain in such posts until a date still to be determined, but no later than 31 March 2014. On such date, she will also step down from her membership on the BAE Systems Executive Committee.
"I want to thank Linda for her many contributions to the Company," said Ian King, Chief Executive, BAE Systems plc. "She has led the transformation of BAE Systems, Inc. by streamlining the organisation, reducing costs, increasing efficiency and speed to market, and diversifying the company's portfolio of products and services. She has done this while leading a culture change with a focus on delivering strong business performance and efficiency."
BAE Systems also announces that Lee McIntire has resigned as a non-executive director of BAE Systems plc with effect from today. Mr McIntire is Chief Executive of CH2M Hill, which is a member of a consortium bidding for a contract relating to the future operation of the UK Defence Equipment and Support organisation. He has resigned to avoid any potential conflict of interest.
Sir Richard Olver, Chairman, said: "We are sorry to lose the benefit of Lee's long experience of major contracting in an international environment, but we fully understand and appreciate his commitment to ensure that no apparent or actual conflict of interest arises in connection with his position on the Board and his leadership of CH2M Hill."
