Appointment of Director

The Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Nicholas Pink as a non-executive Director of the Company with effect from 1 September 2023.

Mr Pink has extensive senior management experience in financial services with previous roles at UBS Investment Bank including Global Head of Research and Head of Asia Research. Mr Pink is currently the Senior Independent Director of Ruffer Investment Company Limited and Non-Executive Director of JP Morgan Emerging Europe, Middle East and Africa Securities plc. He was previously an Independent Director of Redburn (Europe) Limited,

Susan Platts-Martin, Chair of Baillie Gifford China Growth Trust, commented:

"My fellow Directors and I are delighted to welcome Nicholas to the Board. Nicholas strengthens the Board's knowledge of China and Chinese equities and brings investment trust experience."

As at 20 June 2023 Mr Pink had a beneficial interest in 21,877 shares in the Company.

The appointment of Mr Nicholas Pink falls to be ratified by shareholders at the Annual General Meeting of the Company to be held in 2024.

There is no further information required to be disclosed under section 9.6.13 of the Listing Rules.
