Foreign & Colonial Pacific Investment Trust PLC announces further planned

The Chairman, Mr. Alan Davis, will retire following the annual general meeting
in May 2000 after 11 years with the Company, and will be succeeded by Mr.

Mr. Davis said 'We are very pleased to welcome Gill who we believe will give
us a better insight to the needs of the private investors for whom investment
trusts are very well suited. I shall be sorry to step down as Chairman next
year, and wish Christopher Purvis every success in leading the Company to meet
the investment challenges that lie ahead'.
Commenting on her appointment Mrs Nott said 'I believe that investment trusts
are an ideal vehicle for the individual investor, and particularly for those
wishing to gain exposure to a specialist sector, such as the area covered by
this trust'.
