BALFOUR BEATTY JOINT VENTURE AWARDED

AIRPORT TERMINAL DEVELOPMENT CONTRACT

IN THE UNITED STATES

Balfour Beatty, the international infrastructure group, announces today that, in joint venture, it has been selected for preconstruction and construction services for Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport's seven-year Terminal Development Programme.

The project, which is still in design and development, is expected to be worth approximately $900 million.

The joint venture, known as BARC, comprises Balfour Beatty, Azteca Enterprises, H.J. Russell & Company and CARCON Industries.

BARC is planned to be responsible for preconstruction and construction management services for the renovation of terminals A and C and the construction of a rail station to connect future routes, for the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) and the Fort Worth Transportation Authority, to the airport.

Commenting today Balfour Beatty Chief Executive, Ian Tyler, said;

"We are delighted to have been selected to deliver this major infrastructure project with our joint venture partners.   Our ability to leverage the experience and relationships across our businesses in the US, combined with our strong multi-disciplinary capabilities and project management skills, are ideally suited to complex major infrastructure developments of this kind.  We look forward to delivering a key part of Dallas-Fort Worth's transport infrastructure."

 Terminals A, B, C, and E at the airport are approximately 40 years old and primarily consist of original structures and building systems.  Through the programme, the airport seeks to improve efficiency, passenger processing and the aesthetic appearance for all four terminals.

The project scope includes the replacement of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, improving roadways and in-field parking garages and preparing existing areas for new conveyance systems for baggage handling. The phased project will also involve the construction of temporary facilities to accommodate areas that are undergoing renovation.
