On 21 August 2003, Balfour Beatty plc ('the Company') announced that Mr C Carr
and Mr G H Sage had been appointed non-executive directors of the Company with
effect from 1 September 2003.
In compliance with paragraph 16.4 (a) of the Listing Rules, the Company confirms
that Mr C Carr has not previously been a director of a publicly quoted company
and that there are no details to be disclosed under paragraph 16.4 (b) of the
Listing Rules in relation to Mr Carr.
The Company confirms that Mr G H Sage is currently a director of Merrill Lynch
World Mining Trust PLC, and that during the last five years he has held
directorships of Rio Tinto plc and R T Group plc (in Members' Voluntary
Liquidation). There are no details to be disclosed under paragraph 16.4 (b) of
the Listing Rules in relation to Mr Sage.
