On 1 August 2005, Mr A L P Rabin, a director of the Company, exercised matured
options over 3,286 50p Ordinary Shares in the Company that were held under the
Company's Savings Related Share Option Scheme, having been granted on 24 May
2000.  The exercise price was 76p per 50p Ordinary Share.


Following this transaction, Mr Rabin holds 56,331 50p Ordinary Shares in the
Company, and options over a total of 14,407 50p Ordinary Shares in the Company.


On 1 August 2005, Mr P J L Zinkin, a director of the Company, exercised matured
options over 2,842 50p Ordinary Shares in the Company that were held under the
Company's Savings Related Share Option Scheme, having been granted on 24 May
2000.  The exercise price was 76p per 50p Ordinary Share.


Following this transaction, Mr Zinkin holds 75,343 50p Ordinary Shares in the
Company, 325 Cumulative Convertible Redeemable Preference Shares of 1p each in
the Company, and options over a total of 5,847 50p Ordinary Shares in the
Company.
