On 1 October 2001, Mr J L Cohen, a director of the Company, exercised matured
options over 2,697 50p Ordinary Shares in the Company that were held under the
Company's Savings Related Share Option Scheme, having been granted on 22 May
1998.  The exercise price was 120p per 50p Ordinary Share.

Following this transaction, Mr Cohen holds 2,697 50p Ordinary Shares in the
Company and options over a total of 199,448 50p Ordinary Shares in the
Company.
