Grant of Options under the Balfour Beatty Savings Related Share Option Scheme

On 5 May 2004, the following Directors of Balfour Beatty plc ('the Company')
were granted options over the Company's 50p Ordinary Shares under the Balfour
Beatty Savings Related Share Option Scheme 2001:

Mr A L P Rabin: 872
Mr P J L Zinkin: 716
All options were granted at an Exercise Price of 210.0p.
Mr Cohen has entered into a 3 Year Savings Contracts; as a result, his options
are exercisable between 1 July 2007 and 31 December 2007.
Mr Rabin and Mr Zinkin have entered into 5 Year Savings Contracts; as a result,
their options are exercisable between 1 July 2009 and 31 December 2009.
