Balfour Beatty PLC 06 June 2006 6th June 2006 BALFOUR BEATTY PLC ================== Balfour Beatty, the international engineering, construction and services group, announces today that Jim Cohen, Group Managing Director with responsibility for Rail, is to retire from the Group on 18 February 2007 when he will be 65 and he will resign from the Board at that time. He joined the group in 1993, initially to help develop the Group's business in Asia. He has held Board responsibility for Rail since 1996 and, from 1994 to 2005, for the development of the group's PPP Investments business. Jim Cohen's responsibilities as Group Managing Director - Rail will be taken up by Manfred Leger, currently Managing Director of Balfour Beatty Rail Power Systems, the German-based rail electrification project business. Herr Leger joined Balfour Beatty when it acquired the electrification project business of Adtranz in December 2001. Commenting today, Balfour Beatty Chairman, Sir David John said: 'Jim Cohen has been instrumental in the successful growth of both our international rail business and our PPP investments business. We thank him sincerely for his efforts and wish him well for a long and happy retirement.'
