Balfour Beatty plc ('the Company') today received notice from CGNU plc on
behalf of its subsidiary, Norwich Union Investment Management Limited
('NUIM'), that NUIM have a material notifiable interest in 22,986,359 50p
Ordinary Shares of the Company, representing 5.54% of the Company's issued
ordinary share capital.

The aggregate material interest of CGNU plc, which includes the 50p Ordinary
Shares in which NUIM have a material interest, is 26,855,359 50p Ordinary
Shares, representing 6.47% of the issued ordinary share capital of the
Company.
