Balfour Beatty plc ('the Company') today received notice that consequent upon
a sale of 75,000 ordinary shares in the market on 18 December 2000, Legal &
General Investment Management Limited no longer have a notifiable interest in
the ordinary share capital of the Company as their interest in the Company's
ordinary share capital now represents less than 3% of such capital.
