Balfour Beatty plc ('the Company') today received notice from Fidelity
Management & Research Company that the non-beneficial notifiable interest of
Fidelity International Limited ('FIL') and its direct and indirect subsidiaries
in the ordinary share capital of the Company now comprises 24,868,740 ordinary
shares, representing 5.99% of the issued ordinary share capital of the Company.
The notifiable interest of FIL also comprises the notifiable interest of Mr
Edward C. Johnson III, principal shareholder of FIL.

Fidelity Management & Research Company and FIL have informed us that these
shares are held solely for investment purposes.
