Balfour Beatty plc ('the Company') today received notice from Fidelity
Management & Research Company that the non-beneficial notifiable interest of
Fidelity International Limited ('FIL') and its direct and indirect subsidiaries
and FMR Corp. and its direct and indirect subsidiaries ('FMR') in the ordinary
share capital of the Company now comprises 31,256,953 ordinary shares,
representing 7.53% of the issued ordinary share capital of the Company.  The
notifiable interests of FIL and FMR also comprise the notifiable interest of Mr
Edward C. Johnson III, principal shareholder of FIL and FMR.



Fidelity Management & Research Company have informed us that these shares are
held solely for investment purposes.
